1. What do you do outside of the gym? Career, hobbies, etc.!
I am the lead pastor at Compassion Danville. In my spare time, I’m a chaplain with Danville PD, a chaplain for GW football, and a chaplain for Bikers For Freedom. My wife Jackie and I are parents to 7 kids and 5 grandkids…. All of that is enough to keep me plenty busy!
2. How long have you been training with us?
I started last year in September so about 10 months now.
3. What's been your biggest accomplishment since you began training with us?
My biggest accomplishment has seriously been just sticking with it for 10 months. I’m still learning lots of the techniques and learning to be ok with scaling the things that I can’t do. I’ve had several times where I’ve had to be away for a week or even two weeks but I’m thankful that I still look forward to coming back after I’ve been gone. For me, at this point, it’s much more about longevity and staying with it long term than it is about any one PR or achieving a lift that I could not do before.
4. What's your favorite thing about being a member here?
I’ll take the liberty with this question to give 2 favorite things. One is the trainers. They are phenomenal. The amount of detail that they put into teaching technique, watching and offering advice, making sure we’re doing things safely and just caring about us as human beings is awesome. The second thing sounds so cliche, but it really is the community. I really enjoy our 5am group. The trainers and the camaraderie of the group make this thing special.
5. What would you say to someone who is considering training with us?
Man come on! What are you waiting for? Give it a try… don’t be intimidated by the movements because you can literally scale every exercise that we do… and you’re going to meet some amazing people that will cheer you on as you grow. I was nervous and skeptical when I came in last year at bring a friend week, but I fell in love with it in the first week. You gotta try it!
